Art III: 03
Instructor: Webb,J

Advanced Intermediate continues the emphasis on development of abilities to organize and analyze visual arts content, concepts, and skills in creating works of art.  The focus on art history, critical evaluation, and aesthetics is increased, and includes cultural and stylistic issues and creative problem solving.  Study at this level affords students the opportunity to develop a personal direction in the production of their works of art or to further academic study in the visual arts.  Selected works of art and other products will be added to the portfolio and carried forward to the next level of study.

Cubism
In class, Art III is studying our first unit of Drawing, as well as the art movement of Cubism, and the artists Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.  We are learning how to draw objects from direct observation, with greater realism.  We are using sighting and measuring to aid us in realistic Direct Observation.  We are also examining Cubism, and creating abstraction based from realism, through examinations of artwork created by Picasso and Braque.  Our final Cubism project is a Cubistic Still-life, in which we create an abstract still life through realistic drawings, using charcoal, white and black.
